Review of Fun with Dick and Jane (1977) by Brian F — 08 Sep 2010
Immediately knowing that Jim Carrey is in this movie, you assume it's going to be hilarious. However, compared to Jim's other movies, this one falls pretty short. The movie is remake of the 1977 film of the same name.
It tells the story of Dick, played by Carrey, who loses his job while his wife Jane, played by Tea Leoni, quits hers. This causes a lot of finacial problems for the 2, are they forced to become criminals.
The concept and story of the movie was funny, but the way it was excecuted, just wasn't that great. I found myself chuckling at the movie, rather than bursting out laughing. The only real hilarious scene is when Dick and Jane are robbing a store, dressed in all black and wearing voice changing masks.
Definitely not Jim's best movie. Fun With Dick and Jane isn't really all that fun. If you want to, check it out. I didn't find it that funny, but you might. I'd suggest renting it, seeing it on tv, or at a friend's house if possible.
I personally wouldn't spend money on it.
