Review of Fulltime Killer (2001) by David N — 19 Sep 2007
I was very impressed with this film. Granted in the first couple of minutes I was like this is gonna be a waste of time and I shouldn't have even rented it but once the story got started I couldn't help but find myself completely consumed by it.
Andy Lau (who some of you may know from movies like Infernal Affairs and House of FLying Daggers) plays an assassin who is determined to be the #1 Fulltime Killer in Asia and sets about provoking the current #1 assassin "O" (played by Takashi Sorimachi) into a confrontation to finally settle who is the best.
Its a very common story the seasoned veteran who does things in a more discreet and professional way and the new upstart who is brash and flashy wanting to be on the top.. almost reminiscent of the movie Assassins starring Stallone and Banderas....but much better, in fact EXTREMELY better.
I would get into more detail but I fear my obsessive need of including detail will give away some important plot point but I can say that at the end I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be adding this one to my collection.
