Review of Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005) by Rhys M — 02 Mar 2008
I understand why they ended the series this way, but it was a little disappointing and unromantic, leaving little fantasy and imagination left in the Elric's future (arguably). Also, it was just not as well made as the rest of the series, the way things turned out post series according tot he movie was just not how I had pictured it, (especially al continuing alchemy after ed left their world.
I had hoped that he would give it up considering that it uses souls from our world according to some of the later episodes.) I suppose it was difficult to end such a compelling series with absolute grace, though, and it was a descent movie as series bred anime movies go (whihc is usually not well).
4 stars, mostly because I loved the series, if the film stood alone, it would probably be about 3 or 3 1/2.
