Review of Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005) by Anthony T — 03 Nov 2008
A confusing and lack-luster follow-up to one amazing anime. Real-world history gets tossed into the mix of the anime's lore in a confusing concotion as the two Alchemist brothers set out to reunite after being divided by a dimensional rift called the gate. At the same time, there's some stuff about the Nazis dabbling in the super-natural that reminded me somewhat of Indiana Jones. Many of the characters that were killed off in the series make appearances as real-world doppelgangers, which makes the film all the more confusing. After 50+ episodes of the television series, the voice talent is fairly comfortable with their roles and deliver a solid performance.
Not recommended for people who have not watched the television series.
