Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Caesaroctopus — 01 May 2015
Full Metal Jacket is an outstanding war movie. Told in two halves, it first depicts the dehumanization of Marine recruits at Parris Island, and then what happens when those Marines are sent into combat in Vietnam.
Both halves are outstandingly directed and acted, and both capture elements of both war and human nature with the trademark subtlety that is what makes Stanley Kubrick one of the best filmmakers of all time.
