Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Tokyochuchu — 31 Dec 2013
Full Metal Jacket is an interesting war film from Stanley Kubrick. It goes through the usual "war is hell" scenarios and includes some commentary about bullying within the military. It is, however, heavy handed with it's messaging.
Sometimes the acting and direction can be over the top, too. Slow-mo kill shots? That helicopter gunner ("come get some") who obviously cannot act to save his life? There are certainly enough faults here to restrain Full Metal Jacket from being an outright classic.
