Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
Best war film in every single way, the direction from Kubrick really lift up the bleak topic and provided some humour to it. It's a really realistic depiction of the Vietnam War. The film is divided into two parts, with the first part being about the hardship of military training and the psychology behind it; the second was about the actual full on warfare.
War was seen as extremely masculine in the film, with lots of swearing and sexual references. I truely loved each character, all of them provided a different insight to look at the war. Animal Mother is my favourite!!!! And I hate Vietnam to the max as usual, the hatred improved plenty!!
