Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Dylan C — 27 May 2012
A two-part black comedy analysis of the absurdity of war. The first half is undoubtedly superior from Ermey and D'Onofrio's performances alone, along with its harrowing atmosphere and sterile imagery.
I should give credit where credit is due, of course, and say that the second half has more comedic value (some of which is on par with Kubrick's brilliant Dr. Strangelove), and boasts some well-shot action sequences.
