Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Keenan S — 31 Dec 2013
Full Metal Jacket is one of the greatest war films ever made, period. While exploring the horrors of war is nothing new, this film takes that simple idea and goes above and beyond that. It really takes the time to focus on the oddball cast of characters from basic training all the way up to conflicts in Vietnam, along with all the little things that happen during those times.
The film portrays both the lighter, funnier sides of dark times, but also the grim and horrifying times in very effective ways. That's really not much more I can say about this film. It's a true classic in every way, and if you don't like it, well, to quote the film, "CHOKE YOURSELF!" Full Metal Jacket is required viewing for any film fanatic.
