Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Ryan C — 14 May 2014
My favorite war movie and favorite movie up there with the first three Die Hard's and A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's Stanley Kubrick's best movie as well. It's a great tale the follows the story of a few marines and shows the true horrors of war with a dark comedic tone.
The acting is incredible and the war scenes are great and realistic. R. Lee Ermey was so believable in the role as a drill instructor...but that's because he use to be one and a lot of his lines are improvised.
It's a truly haunting movie and once I tune in my focus never leaves the movie whenever I watch it. It's a truly compelling movie and I don't get why a lot of people say the second half ruins it, I think it adds a lot too it.
The soundtrack too is great, especially during the war scenes, their not really what you'd expect to hear in a movie like this and it's just great. It's probably the most realistic Vietnam War movie of the 80's.
It's a really great movie.
