Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Paul J — 02 Apr 2015
Kubrick does it again with this pitch-perfect Vietnam War film. Two separate halves (both from different books) that add up to one of the greatest war films ever made. The training segments are unforgettable.
Brilliantly funny, very disturbing and probably fairly accurate. The second half is slightly more enigmatic and surreal but equally potent in its portrayal of the insanity of war.
