Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Zachary R — 24 Jun 2012
Another good film, even though anti-war about Vietnam. This film deals with a group of men in Vietnam from the harsh training in the military to the way it was in the war. Stanley Kubrick, a director who loved to focus on the human condition in all his films, basically told us the story of a group platoon in the war.
Sounds an awful lot like the movie Platoon doesn't? The funny thing with this movie is how Stanley Kubrick delved into more harshness and the making of the hard boiled military machine for those who could hack it and those who fought against it, but basically became elite killers.
The acting is good, story riveting, shocking, and also depressing, so not for the feint of heart. But if you are a person who loves films on the human condition and war drama, this film is for you! 10 out of 10.
