Review of Full Contact (1993) by John S — 26 Jul 2008
A rather atypical Hong Kong actioner from Ringo Lam. Rather than travelling down the well worn "John Woo bullet ballet" route, Full Contact's primary influences are western: 70's tough guy movies and 80's, Tony Scott-style, action films.
Expect a great deal of casual bloody violence, misogyny, a homosexual subtext that verges on being text and Chow looking pensive as guitars wail.
