A presumably accurate re-creation that reminds us exactly how dull life can be for long stretches, even when dramatic life changing events are impending. All interest and anticipation comes from the same "show the ending first then show how we got there" trope that so often appeared in lazier episodes of Alias.

It's very easy to walk out with a politically incorrect shrug of "well that poor policeman grabbed the wrong gun in the heat of the moment - why the fuss?".
