Review of Fruitvale Station (2013) by Martin L — 14 Jan 2014
A damn fine Debut from director Ryan Coogler. Though lacking in plot it makes up for it with honesty, emotions and what is probably one of the most haunting scenes of 2013. It's an honest look at an imperfect man in his final hours before things go awfully wrong and with no cause.
Michael B. Jordan is fantastic as Oscar Grant; a man trying to get his life back together but is still very human. The supporting cast is solid, good hand-held cinematography and a nice score. Obviously some things in the movie are played up for drama but in the end it still is an honest portrayal of what happened.
