Knowing the end before it happens, makes every moment fill with regret, dread and just a general sadness. Oscar isn't played as straight forward, he's not a clear cut good guy or bad guy, he's just a person.
It makes everything that happens to him feel incredibly unfair, because we know him just to be a person.
