Review of Frozen River (2008) by Gloria K — 02 Mar 2009
If it had not been for a preview on a dvd I rented I may have missed this movie. This was definitely a sleeper with some academy award acting on the part of Melissa Leo. And what to my surprise do I find out on the day of the Oscars? That she has been nominated for her role! Who ever even heard of this movie?! Melissa shows us what a mother is willing to do for her children in a way that is raw and believable.
This is a dark look at what happens when several worlds come together in an all too realistic scenario - well acted, good movie.
