Review of Frozen River (2008) by Mike F — 13 Apr 2009
Imagine the Dardenne brothers, stuck in Canada for a month. Defines a scope and doesn't veer beyond it's borders. A very direct look at two people in economic crisis, finding a workable (albeit illegal) solution.
I like movies set in distant, cold places. And how a seemingly simple choice in this far off, desolate place is as heroic as anything you'll see, in real life or a movie. Simple, real, believable.
