Frozen River's directness is both its greatest strength and weakness, in that it doesn't get bogged down with any extraneous bullshit, but it also goes exactly where you know it's going to.
Still, to give credit where credit is due, the film is extraordinarily well-acted and Courtney Hunt manages to keep this story about as suspenseful as it can be.
