A grueling yet altogether captivating kitchen sink drama. While the film comes off as somewhat unpolished and is prone to occasionally stilted acting, the movie is held together by a magnificent and extremely sympathetic performance from Melissa Leo as a single mother who puts everything on the line in order to provide for her family.
