Review of Frozen River (2008) by Marcos M — 22 Jul 2009
An insightful look at the cross-border smuggling on a Mohawk reserve and the struggle of a basically single mother to provide for her family and combat the repo man. It was depressing, desperate and so incredibly touching (especially since there's an almost Christ-like parallel in the film) you cannot help but cry.
The ending felt like it was going to be predictable, but it surprised in the end, and for that I recommend it not only for the excellent acting, but for the plot line as well. A-.
