Review of Frozen River (2008) by Pheasant W — 02 Dec 2010
It was most definitely grim. I thought it dragged on quite a bit though. When Leo's character would "act tough" sometimes it was laughable. Just could not take it seriously. However, I really liked the plot and concept of this independent film.
It really portrayed the situation very realistically. This woman was poor and desperate and perhaps did not agree with all the laws in place concerning immigration. She was just doing what she had to do to help her family stay afloat and not end up homeless.
I won't be seeing this again anytime soon but a solid film.
