Review of Frozen River (1929) by Aaron B — 22 Mar 2009
Solid movie with real flesh and blood characters whose lives are absolutely pathetic, and the actors playing them bring across that pain and acceptance of a menial existence splendidly. You know life isn't so great when the biggest aspirations for the main character (who works at a dollar store) are a bigger mobile home and a nice bath tub in which to use bath salts she has been collecting and saving for the occasion.
Note that a movie about smuggling illegal aliens from Canada into the United States that none of the people being smuggled are Canadians but from somewhere else.
