Review of Frozen River (1929) by Tara M — 03 May 2009
Dark, haunting, engaging and fascinating.... I really was quite unaware of the smuggling problem facing the Canadian border. This movie felt fresh and alerting in subject matter , featuring wonderful performances by the entire cast, all of whom are seemingly unfamous.
Melissa Leo, an actress with whose work I'm not familiar, was totally deserving of her Oscar nom. Frozen River is am all- around great movie that challenges you NOT to become invested in the lead characters.
