Leo is sensational as, Ray, a mother left hardened and destitute from a husband gambling away any money the family can earn. Ray's husband leaves their family car abandoned and eventually claimed by a young native woman as her own.

Ray confronts the thief and is reluctantly introduced to local criminals that can help her earn enough fast money to save the family home. The family's hope is as bleak as the snowy, December upstate New York backdrop, yet the theme of a mother's unbending love for her children is inspirational.

The story had the potential to be slow-moving, but the characters were dynamic, edgy and unpredictable and the director sprinkled in enough suspense to keep you guessing.
