Review of Frozen Fever (2015) by Nicholas D — 29 Mar 2015
This short was O.K. This short was the only reason I wanted to watch Cinderella, and I have to say, I believe it was barely worth it. The short follows Elsa in a fast paced race to celebrate Anna's birthday while constantly dealing with her sister telling her to cancel to day so she can rest.
The short for me was really just O.K. It doesn't really live up to the standards of the original Frozen, but it kept me amused the whole time I was watching. There were some good ideas and some things I am not okay with.
I really love the new mini snowmen. They are cute and beautifully animated. I just don't think that the whole idea of making Frozen into a 7 minute short for a couple reasons. One reason is just that there isn't enough time to truly build up a conflict as good as the original from the feature-length film.
Also it is so short that the short relies on the song for most of it's run time. I actually love the song Making Today A Perfect Day, it's just that I wish there was more dialogue than just the song because the original had many of it's great moments from the jokes told from the characters.
It also feels rushed. It starts out in the morning then the song starts and it goes to the afternoon then it's the sunset and then the short is over. Overall great short, I would recommend if you need something to keep you busy for a brief amount of time.
If you are a die-hard Frozen fan with high expectations, lower the expectations and i'm sure you will enjoy it. While keeping some of the charm and fun from the original, Frozen Fever loses most of it in it's very brief run-time.
