Review of Frozen (2013) by Christian%20 F — 25 Sep 2018
I'll start with the animation: it was very, very good. The sceneries and snow in particular were amazing. They did a great job on the characters as well; the main sisters are absolutely gorgeous. Loved the CGI, but the storyline? It was loosely thrown together.
Elsa is born with magic ice/ snow powers that can create ice rinks, snowmen, AND snowstorms? That seems really loosely explained and random. When she looses control of this stuff, Anna has to set through a "dangerous" journey to.
.. tell Elsa to make it go away. In the end, it's the "power of love" that has already been done 5 billion other times that saves everyone. I think this could have been presented in a better way, but in this it just seems really cheesy.
However, I did like how Elsa learned to relax and love herself for who she was, and how her fear carried so much complexity. When she falls to the ground as her storm collapses around her, and sobs over Anna's frozen statue in the silence: amazing.
They definitely could have explored her character a bit more, but decided to focus mostly on Anna. Also, I felt Olaf the snowman was desperately trying to take over many crucial points in the story, and ended up just being really annoying.
Overall, the story has its strong points, but is mostly presented as cheesy and fake.
