Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by Archie L — 28 Mar 2010
Frost/Nixon was my pick to win the best picture at the 81st Academy Awards. I knew it wouldn't win but I stood behind it firmly until the end. Frost/Nixon is the most compelling political movie I've ever seen.
As of 2010, Frost/Nixon is easily Ron Howard's finest film. The cast is simply stellar. Frank Langella, portraying President Nixon, was nominated for best actor at the Oscars. It's Michael Sheen that steals the show however.
His portrayal of David Frost is spot on. Compare the actual interviews to the film and try to tell me that Sheen wasn't the perfect choice to play Frost. Sam Rockwell is outstanding in his minor role and so is Oliver Platt and Kevin Bacon.
History may tell you what happens in the conclusion of the movie but you will be waiting on the edge of your seat for Langella to utter the famous words of Nixon. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you Frost/Nixon, the movie that should have won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
