Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by José C — 29 Mar 2010
I put off watching this film for a long time. My mistake. I had no idea that the subject matter and story in this film could be so riveting. But it is, and the performances are fantastic, notably Frank Langella as Nixon and Michael Sheen as David Frost.
Yes, it has been dramatized, and is not 100% historically accurate, but it doe not matter in the least. The film captures the fears and insecurities of both men as they both try to control the interview, and even though we know the outcome, the tension and suspense builds with unrelenting power.
In fact, you don't even need to know the American political landscape of the era to enjoy this, likely Ron Howard's best film to date.
