Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by Nicolas M — 16 Dec 2010
If you are a political or history dork like me, you'll like it.
The movie starts by introducing Richard Frost, his previous work; hosting TV show in Australia. How he migrate to United States and took up the challenge to interview none other then the scandalous president of that time, Richard Nixon. They show 'Watergate Scandal' in minority, which is good no one want to be bored by it, right? About half an hour the movie jumps into the process of preparing the debate, with a great supporting cast by Sam Rockwell. The movie wraps up the Q&A in excellent taste, that makes me glued to my seat. Many inside questions about the people he hired, the tape records and Vietnam War. They even showed the 'confession' part of Richard Nixon too.
Michael Sheen portrayed David Frost rather average, I was expecting more from this talented actor. But still he does not disappoint. Frank Langella deserved it, good mimic. His body language, tone and expression are flawless. This movie would be boring for some people, but if you are searching for a good political drama, this is it.
Richard Nixon: "I let them down. I let down my friends, I let down my country, and worst of all I let down our system of government, and the dreams of all those young people that ought to get into government but now they think; 'Oh it's all too corrupt and the rest'. Yeah... I let the American people down. And I'm gonna have to carry that burden with me for the rest of my life. My political life is over..".
8/10.
