Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by Antonio L — 21 Jul 2011
To be honest, Nixon resigned almost 20 years before I was born and though I know who he was and roughly what he has done I'm not really interested in details of the political situation in the US of the 70s. (I'm European you know...).
Frost/Nixon shares the same problem with Oliver Stone's JFK and Nixon - I just don't give a f*ck.
Though, I must admit, the actors are great: Sheen is awesome, Langella is also compelling (even though I don't know how Nixon really acts and behaves) and Hall at least moderately hot. Direction by Ron Howard is fine as well.
But pure craftsmanship is not enough to make a film great (at least not in my opinion) and the emotional, even exciting grand finale can't hide the fact that it's simply boring in the middle stages.
