Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by Just'manoj H — 06 May 2012
This is the third film I've seen on my annual "Oscar Tour". This film is well made, it is directed well and all of the actors do fine jobs. It is definitely performance driven. The biggest problem with this movie is that the story is just not interesting.
The movie does not give you anymore insight on what happened in Watergate. No more information on Richard Nixon. It does tell you who David Frost is/was but who really cares. The studio that put this film out forgot that people go to the movies to see a good story, not just to watch actors perfect their craft.
Frank Langella got a best actor nod for his performance as Richard Nixon and it was deserved. He did a fine job, however it was not enough to save this film. You will be better off watching a documentary on the History Channel if you want to know more about this event in history, and that's just what it is.
An event in history, not a real story worth making a movie about.
