Review of Frost/Nixon (2008) by Corey C — 11 Jun 2012
This wasn't as good as I hoped. Langella is great, but the film as a whole suffers from what I like to call "Ron Howard overexplanation syndrome," in which the film's themes are stripped of any nuance or subtlety and pounded, repeatedly, into your skull.
Scenes are followed by faux-documentary interviews in which it is explained what just happened, what will happen, and the significance of the whole thing. Individual scenes work -- particularly in the second half -- but as a whole, I just wasn't feeling this.
