Review of Frontier(s) (2007) by Jon H — 28 May 2008
Nazis? Cannibal Nazis? Cannibal Nazis with freak off-spring children living in a mine filled with rotting bodies? Hells yes. If this sounds disturbing, that's because it is. Fantasticly directed by Xavier Gens (who is definitely a new-comer to keep an eye on).
Some amazing gore effects (a head exploding scene that makes Scanners look like a disney film). Not really scary, more "suspensful" than anything, but the film's over-the-top plotline and gore is what keeps it interesting.
I still can't believe this was dropped from the After Dark Horrorfest because it would have been the best thing there. Apparently horror fans aren't truly ready for a film that is NC-17 just for the violence.
That's right, no nudity, not THAT much language, just unrelenting gore. Fred Vogel, eat your heart out.
