Review of Frontier(s) (2007) by Leslie L — 02 Apr 2009
The plot left us somewhat confused. They should have just made it about a group of youngsters on a roadtrip who end up at this inn run by crazy people and left out all the political nonsense that really didn't belong in the film.
As for the "neo Nazis," the inn, and all the gore/ bloodshed... can we say Texas Chainsaw Massacre without the chainsaw??? Probably one of the most gory films I've seen in awhile. The cutting of the Achilles tendon in the guy made us SCREAM.
.. as did the terrible clastrophobic scene where the guys are crawling through some horrible tunnel... only to find themselves BACK in the "slaughter house!" I wish they'd have done more with the one girls "un-normal" children.
.. (whom were slightly beastlike and crawling around in the tunnel with glowing eyes!)... another moment making us scream! There was just SO MUCH in this movie, but not much of a cohesive plot. We enjoyed the horrifying, gory moments for sure.
A bit too realistic in places.
