Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Martin G — 11 Nov 2012
The second 007 adventure remains at the top of the list, with its greatness only rivalled by the next entry in the series. The simple but effective pre-credits sequence, John Barry's magnificient musical score, the debut of enigmatic, cat-stroking SPECTRE leader Blofeld, aided by Lotte Lenya's venemous Rosa Klebb and Robert Shaw's brutal, blonde killer, Bond's exploding suitcase and those infamous pointed-dagger shoes; there's just too much to list and that's leaving out the classic climatic fight between Connery and Shaw.
Perfectly plotted and paced, it is arguably the perfect Bond film.
