Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Michael R — 21 Feb 2011
I really dig this one. MK'd Russians (assassin puppets and slaves) vs Fleming's attempt to take control of his own psyche is transposed into a movie that is a beautiful filigree of hidden motives and solutions.
Terence Young was a brilliant director. Action and details and intricate staging that foreshadow and create payoffs is an artform.( Please stop telling me Christopher Nolan is even a passable director since he relies on his dp for everything.
Editing is not directing ).
