Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Ken S — 19 Nov 2012
One of, if not THE, best Bonds. The plot works, the action is better than the previous film ("Dr. No"), and Sean Connery is awesome. The pre-title sequence is great, like the newer "Casino Royale" it has real quiet intensity, and opens everything up nicely.
Even on its own, discounting the history, this is a great film. Counting the history, as well as carrying over the iconic elements of "Dr. No", it also adds many new ideas that would become standards in the later films.
This is my own personal favorite of the Bond series, and Connery is at his absolute best. Definitely recommended to anyone who loves fun in the movies.
