Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Jeremy S — 27 Mar 2013
"From Russia with Love" is one of the best Bond films. It has probably one of the more realistic plotlines of all the Bond films, with Bond embroiled in an extortion scheme by SPECTRE while attempting to acquire a Russian encoding device.
In the ways of performances, Connery's Bond is more focused and suave, more in his element, and we see some of the better Bond villains, such as Robert Shaw's Red Grant, Lotte Lenya's Colonel Rosa Krebb, and Vladek Sheybal as chessmaster/SPECTRE agent Kronsteen.
Also in thw ays of performances, it had one of the better Bond girls with Daniela Bianchi as Russian decoder Tatiana Romanova, as well as Pedro Armendariz in one of his last roles as Bond ally Ali Kerim Bey.
With all these aspects going for it, "From Russia with Love" is probably one of the best Bond movies around, and one of the Bond films to definitely introduce newer fans to.
