Review of From Paris with Love (2010) by Seth P — 24 Apr 2011
I didn't think I was going to enjoy this, but I was wrong. It's directed by Luc Besson, which just completely changed things for me from the start of it. There is a lot of mindless shooting, super-hero like stunts and far-fetchiness, but it is very entertaining.
Travolta is hilarious and he brings back Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction for about 2 seconds while he's muching on a "Royale with Cheese". Lots of blood, drugs and terrorists! I think Besson, who also wrote the screenplay, is trying to say something with this movie, but he's doing it by not being overly vocal.
There is a threat of Islamic terrorism everywhere, sometimes in the people and places we least expect. A great and enjoyable adrenalised ride.
