Review of From Paris with Love (2010) by Zack S — 29 Jun 2011
I really like Luc Besson, whether he's just producing or directing a film. I'd much rather see him directing to be honest though. That being said, From Paris With Love was a lot better than I thought it would be, but it could have been better.
I'm in the minority but I still regard John Travolta as a great actor. I think comparing this to his performance in Battlefield Earth is a bit harsh. Yeah, there is some cheesy dialogue, but it isn't nearly as ridiculous.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers was also really good as well. Not to mention I really liked Kasia Smutniak. The action is what really kept my interest more than anything. Story could have been so much more though.
It was very typical and there are a few stupid moments. Still, I had a lot of fun with this even though it's obvious to say it never reaches its full potential. Wouldn't watch it again to be honest, but it was worth seeing.
