Review of From Paris with Love (2010) by Benjamin W — 29 Jun 2011
Wowzer, what a powerful punch in such a tight little frame. This is the definition of GUILTY PLEASURE.
Travolta chews up the scenery and delivers some serious bad ass one-liners all while kicking MAJOR ass. Rhys-Meyers does his best considering how removed this is from his normal fair, and really, he does just fine. The action is TOP-NOTCH, brisk and rousing fun, and never seems to get in its own way. The plot is simple and stays that way, allowing the real reason were here - the action, to pulse forward in wonderful, delightful bursts.
At only 90 minutes the film is an easy watch, but it only feels like an HOUR or less. A breeze, that when over, makes you wanting more... maybe not necessarily of the movie, but certainly Travolta's character Wax. And that alone is redeeming enough for me - I LOVE memorable characters.
