Review of From Hell (2001) by Suhas R — 29 Apr 2009
The most original cinematic rendering of the Jack the Ripper legend, From Hell is a moody, gothic horror piece set against the backdrop of Victorian London. Depp, as always, delivers a fine performance; Graham is miscast as Mary Kelly.
The story itself can be confusing at times, but the attractiveness of the scenery as well as the creative take on Depp's Scotland Yard Inspector make this worthwhile viewing for those who enjoy this sort of thing.
