Review of From Hell (2001) by James M — 29 Oct 2010
Excellent. Stylish, authentic looking and well acted throughout. It will keep you guessing who the killer is throughout and like all the best films has a bittersweet ending. Johnny Depp was as always perfect in his role, never once losing his cockney accent.
Class act. One criticism which is more a matter of taste but I would have preferred to have seen a bit more of the violence instead of it only being implied. It was old fashioned in that sense but as its quite gory I think it would have more of a disturbing impact had it went all out.
Underated and will become a classic in time.
