Review of From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) by David L — 03 Oct 2010
Not a patch on the original, it just hasn't got that Tarantino touch. It just felt like your average slasher where the characters get whittled down one by one in uneventful, or scary ways. It hasn't got the originality, nor the comedy that the first one had, and whereas the original was brilliant because it doesn't take itself too seriously, this one fails in that department.
In fact, it tries too hard to create a sequel that surpasses its original, and comes nowhere near. This wasn't so much a continuation of a storyline (at least I don't think it was), but a poor attempt at reigniting the success of the first with a slightly altered plot.
Robert Patrick doesn't seem cast correctly in this role either, or maybe I just prefer his mean streak in Terminator 2 and The Faculty.
