Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Kristijonas F — 18 May 2011
In film critique, there is an incredibly thin line between genius and stupidity. This film has one foot on each side. Technically, it's a film critic's nightmare, it's pure stupid sloppy filmmaking.
But people don't watch movies technically. The fact of the matter is, From Dusk Till Dawn is one of the most painfully original films ever made. Quentin's delectable dialogue is crisp and tasty, and it works beautifully with Robert's flair for the outrageous and wacky.
Sure, it's completely brainless, and there are many sloppy inconsistencies. But I doubt that a movie as ridiculous as this, answers to such things as the laws of physics and logic. It's just a brilliant movie that's proficiently written with great action and gore and just pure badassitude.
It's not a perfect movie, but giving this film anything lower than a 100 would be a crime. This is one of my favorite movies.
