Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Dylan C — 18 Oct 2013
A blast for fans of Tarantino and Rodriguez. Imagine a double feature: the first part being a gritty, suspenseful crime story, the other being a horror-exploitation throwback with jacked up production values. The only problem is the transition, the middleground in which the two parts meet. Though one could easily mark Salma Hayek's sensationally distracting dance scene as what separates the two segments, a smoother transition from psycho-hitmen to vampire-gorefest would have made this a perfect film.
That being said, and knowing full well that a transition in between such drastically different genres would be impossible to pull off as it is, this is one of the most entertaining movie that showcases the collaborative power of two great filmmakers.
