Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Josh W — 06 Nov 2013

Part crime saga with attitude, part exploitative zombie/vampire action romp, this film offers enough thrills and surprises to keep you glued to the screen until the very end, and part of the fun is seeing the eclectic cast of character change (sometimes, literally) and adapt to the drastic changes in tone.

Of everyone, though, a young George Clooney impresses as a guiltless, ruthless criminal willing to take any human lives to get what he wants. It's the type of role you rarely see him play, and seeing him eat up the screen is a treat.

It's almost a shame that we didn't get to follow his character and Tarantino's character a little longer in an extension of the more dramatic half as opposed to witnessing the drastic switch in genre, because they made for some interesting characters.

Nevertheless, it's a highly enjoyable film.
