Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Movie G — 19 Aug 2011
Where can I start with this film...it was all going so well until about halfway through. It began brilliantly, true Tarantino fashion- the script was great, it was humourous, there was plenty of violence and swearing, etc, etc.
Then Selma Hayek turned into a vampire...and it all went wrong for me. I just did not like the way it turned into some farcical, badly written, badly acted B-Movie.
Now, it's possible that it was MEANT to be that way as a sort of throw-back to the films of the 1950s/60s. However, it just didn't make good viewing for me. After how well it started, I couldn't shift my mentality to see the second half as purposefully slap-stick because I was just so dissapointed by it.
There are almost two separate films (a bank-robber getaway and a vampire filck) that were, I assume, supposed to be blended together to make one aweomse film. But they seemed more smashed together to me.
