Only two people can fool the public into believing they're watching an artsy B-Movie - Tarantino and Rodriguez. But they're not fooling me. Although the first hour or so of the film is quite entertaining with some nice lines which can only come from a Tarantino script and a young Clooney in his first lead role (casted against type as brutal but wisecracking bankrobber) the film turns into a gory and absurd B-Movie as soon as the vampires appear (which is very abrupt...).
It's nice to see Tarantino act in a bigger role here although he simply isn't that good. He plays a dumbfuck on the other hand - which comes quite handy as it's arguably the only thing he could sell anyways.
Too trashy for my taste but I can understand why hardcore horror/B-Movie/Tarantino/Rodriguez fans love it.
